Our first Dalmatian came in 1963 when young Jack White was in the military at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. He was training horses for the Army and was allowed to have a dog, and that first Dalmatian was Calculator's Miss Sencerity, who goes back to the Green Star line. "Sindy" was bred to Ch. Long Lost Ripcord, son of an imported international/English Champion Colonsay Blacksmith and produced Ch Melody Sweet CD in 1965. "Sweet" became a multiple Specialty and Group winner and the foundation of Melody Kennels. Sweet was also a Top Ten special for several years, something a female rarely did in those days. From Sweet, the Melody line has descended now 11 generations to our current dogs. Read more about Sweet in Jack's aticle in the Spring 1993 issue of the Dalmatian Quarterly.

In 1971, Beth and Jack were married and together they made Melody Kennels a recognized name in the dog show world. Melody Kennels has won Best of Breed at the Canadian, American and Mexican National Specialties, as well as many Groups and BISS in the US. While only breeding on a small scale, Melody Kennels has produced or finished nearly 100 Champions.
